In November 1983, Art McElhinney, Jr. opened the doors of McElhinney's Service. Originally known as "Manordale," the station was a full-service
fuel depot and service station for motorists in the area.
The building was expanded in 1986 and new gasoline pumps were installed three years later.
Art's last fuel delivery was received in August 1999 and the pumps were removed the next month.
The building has been further expanded in recent years
with the addition of more service bays and enhanced automotive diagnostic equipment. Additions such as these allow McElhinney's Service to improve its work
quality and better provide for its valued customers. Today, McElhinney's Service is capable of performing the most basic vehicle inspection to the most
complex powertrain troubleshooting.
Art feels his success has come from being honest and truthful to his customers. McElhinney's Service provides its customers with quality work
at a fair price. Art has also strived to keep up with the knowledge, tools, and equipment it takes to repair and maintain newer vehicles.
His philosophy works. A large portion of his business comes from repeat customers, but he continues to acquire new business by referrals from
his existing customer base.
Having a clean and customer-friendly repair facility is important to the success of Art's company. The recent expansion of his facility has made
his technicians more efficient, which allows them to get more work done while still maintaining the level of quality that Art's customers expect.
The remodeled building also provides a clean and comfortable waiting area.
Art McElhinney has come a long way since the opening of a lawnmower repair shop at the age of sixteen, but his character and sincerity have
not changed. With the help of his family and employees, Art has formed McElhinney's Service into what is is today: a competitive automotive repair
facility that offers quality service and is staffed by honest people.
In August of 2003, McElhinney's Service was named one of Westmoreland County's
"Great Places." Click here to view the article from
